Regional lumber companies swift to pitch in and help
Log trucks rolled into the Clatsop County Fairgrounds Thursday, carrying the raw material for the much-anticipated rebuild of Fort Clatsop. About 420 logs donated by four area timber companies were unloaded near the main arena, which will house the building project that’s set to begin Dec. 10. “We just wanted to help restore the fort,” said Curt Copenhagen from Longview Fibre, which donated logs along with Hampton Affiliates, Stimson Lumber and Weyerhaeuser Co.
